Insult to injury

I’ve had sprained ankles and strained joints and pulled muscles from playing basketball, but having a cut on your inner lip has got to be one of the most frustrating basketball-related injuries ever.  You can’t eat, you can’t drink, you can’t do all the other things you want to do.

And it’s not getting any better!  I’ve thought about getting a mouth guard before, but this thing is really pushing me over the fence.  And that medicine I’ve been coating it with is getting me to drool all over the place!  As if I weren’t being hassled enough!

But yes, I’m still balling tonight.

Drive My Car

I’ve never been a fan of fancy cars.  I mean sure, I appreciate a Bentley as much as anyone, but I don’t really care much for whatever I drive.  I figure as long as it gets me where I need to go with air conditioning then I’m good.  You could put me in an rv towing truck or a broken down jeep, and it’s all good.

I do have this thing about building my own car, though.  From the ground up.  The GF thinks it’s crazy, but I think it’s maybe a month at an auto-mechanic’s shop class and a lot of spare parts.  I’ll probably try build a BMW.  Hey, the Germans did it.

State of the Team

So far we’ve won 2 games straight, 18 more to go.  The biggest difference here was the fact that I handled the ball.  We’ve been losing the past few games because we didn’t have a designated ball handler, while I was the designated shooter.

I shoot better off the dribble, but more importantly, I can put a defense on its heels.  When I handled the ball those two games, I put pressure on the defense, which opened up shots not just for me, but for the rest of the team.  I had a pretty hard time giving the ball up, but I figured I had to start learning to pass if we plan to do some damage in the league.

Sure enough, my teammates hit open shots.  I was still missing the easy ones, but I realized my real skill is just really getting myself and everybody open.  Just have to start passing the ball more.

Defense was solid as usual.  Got to wonder how the team transformed into such a defensive monster.  Especially since I was a staunch Dallas Mavericks fan growing up.

The Competition

I’ve always wanted a PS3, an xbox 360, and a Wii set.  The problem is, I don’t want them THAT badly.  I’ll probably get one sooner or later (after years of thinking about it), but I don’t know which one to get.  Will probably go for the one with the best games.  Whomever supports the best NBA game out there, I’ll be leaning towards that.

Speaking of games, I’m so psyched to play the new Star Craft game!  I can admit I’m terrible at games like that, but that doesn’t make them any less fun!  The secret is, you have to play with people who are just as terrible as you are.  Really takes the edge off!

In other news, DLSU over ADMU, players!  ANIMO!

I WANT MY IPHONE 5!

I was looking at TVs and PS3s yesterday, and was seriously considering getting a set for my room, when I realized I was saving up for something even more awesome.  The iPhone 5.  I can’t wait for the Apple conference to begin, flashing floodlights, spotlights, all sorts of lights!  Then Steve Jobs gets on that podium and says he’ll take a picture of the audience with the built in Sony camera!  OH SNAP.  Get it?  SNAP?

I hope they’ll fix the various issues with the iPhone before then, though.  iPhone 4 was a disappointment (at least for a Mac).  I’d also be pretty happy if they can finally have analog TV.  I mean, Cherry Mobile can do it.  Don’t tell me Apple can’t.

Test Me

You guys might remember me mentioning that I’ve been following a high-fat diet these days.  It’s supposedly very effective at burning off fat and is a natural testosterone booster.  I don’t really know how you can measure an increase in testosterone levels, but I sure am getting leaner.  I love how I’m eating bacon all day everyday but still losing pounds.  Beat that.

Of course, I’m worried about cholesterol.  In theory, I’m taking enough fish oil to negate the negative effects, but you can never be too sure.  That’s why I can’t stay on this diet long term.  Will probably try to run it in cycles.  Either that or take a blood test to determine my cholesterol levels.

Then again, that sounds like way too much work.

Naruto Shippuden Ep. 167 Recap + Spoilers!

Planetary Devastation

I usually don’t do this, but DAMN.  I LOVE THIS ANIME! I’m assuming you’ve been following the past 166 episodes or else you wouldn’t be reading this, so here goes:

After Hinata gets taken down by Pain, Naruto gets really angry and removes the seal of the Nine Tails inside him.  Naruto then transforms into the Kyuubi, albeit only with 6 tails.  He then starts whooping the living bejeezus out of Pain, especially after the tails increase their number to 8.

While all this ass kicking is going on, we see that Hinata is actually still alive, which is awesome because I think she’s really nice.

ANYWAY, Naruto’s consciousness is slowly being overwhelmed by the Nine-Tails who is convincing him to take off the FINAL SEAL.  Because of Naruto’s pain and hatred he’s about to rip off the final seal that will free the Kyuubi completely, when suddenly TADARAN-DUNDUN!  The Fourth Hokage appears!

End of Episode.  Spoiler Alert, next few lines.  Stop reading,  You’ve been warned.

The Fourth is actually Naruto’s OLD MAN!  I just got goosebumps!

The Day the Music Died

I have a friend who recently got a new Mac Book Pro.  First, let me congratulate her on such a sound purchase.  She will enjoy many wonderful hours of working on the best laptop in the world.

Second, I’m ashamed to say Apple has introduced a left click keypad button.  I can’t believe they’d sell out like that.  I used to left click here, there and everywhere with pride.  Now I must hang my head in shame because Apple has decided that the PC’s left click option IS more practical.  Killed the dream, man.

Oh well.  Apple has come out with some redeeming factors this year anyway, first of which is the new iPhone.  Lots of issues, lots of bugs, still the best phone on the market.

The Anabolic Diet: Risks

I’ve done an experimental run on this diet for a couple of weeks, and the results have been astounding.  I’m eating all this food that I love (KFC, steak, cheeses) and I’m actually getting leaner in the process.

The risks of such a high-fat diet though still bother me.  For one, I’m worried about the effects of the fat on my cholesterol levels.  I think perhaps I may be at risk for having so much bacon.  I’ve decided to incorporate fish oil supplementation into the diet, just to play it safe.  Also, olive oil should help.

There’s also been some talk about all that fat affecting the complexion.  So far, I haven’t seen the need to break out the acnepril yet, so I guess maybe that complexion issues aren’t common to everybody.

I’ll keep everybody updated on how the diet is working after a solid 10 days on it.  Hopefully it will have the desired results, because I LOVE this thing.

Joint Project (Get it?)

Been doing plyometrics lately, albeit unsuccessfully.  I think I’m still too heavy and/or too weak to be doing them since I can feel the impact on my knees way too much.  I’ll probably stop for a while and just try to cut some weight first.  Either that or load up on some natural joint pain relief products.

I do feel a little bit more explosive, but I think that’s just psychological, or maybe the effect of dropping around 5 pounds.  I’ve got a lot of weight to drop still, though, before I consider doing plyo again.  I want to be more explosive, not wreck my knees in the process.

In other news, I will be starting the real Anabolic Diet today.  Will write about it more next time.
