Gotta Be The Shoes

I’m thinking about getting new basketball shoes but I KNOW I don’t really need a new pair.  My old Steve Nash Zooms are still in pretty good shape.  Or should I say, awesome shape.  I keep those babies under box and key.  Okay, no key, but they are still in the box they came with.  I only take them out when it’s game time!  And only on a wooden court.

I mean, I’m not a big shoe person.  I don’t want Dansko clogs or Lacoste shoes (although to be fair, the pair I do have is awesome).  I just want my Nikes.  We ballers gotta ball.

Awesome in One

Nivea Men recently released some sort of of three in one product.  I think it is shampoo, facial wash, and body soap, all in one.  At first I was skeptical and I scoffed that I had no conceivable need for a gimmick like that, but then I realized, it would come in real handy when I shower at the gym.

See, instead of bringing shampoo and facial wash and soap, I can just bring that.  Yes, I do use facial wash.  What?  Spartans aren’t allowed to have clean, sparkling faces?  Can you suggest any other natural acne treatment?  (Oh wait, I don’t have acne.)

IN ANY CASE, I will check it out next time I am at a grocery.  If the price is right, then my shower bag load will definitely be easier to carry.

Who would’ve thought?

Believe it or not, I have been doing more cardiovascular exercise than resistance training in the past couple of weeks!  No, I have not been working on the elliptical or treadmill, but I have been shooting baskets regularly at home.

I just have not had the time to go to the gym to lift weights.  Coupled with my semi-diet though, I have been seeing results.  I feel a little lighter, a little leaner.  Maybe ever a little quicker.  The most important thing, though?  My jump shot is looking unbelievably sweet.  I know it sounds like I am blowing my own horn, but when you guys see that bad boy, you’ll all know what I’m taking about.

I should probably play in a real game soon.  Goodness knows I’ve gotten enough invitations to.  And I AM itching to drop 20 points on some poor unsuspecting defender.  Balling is a lifestyle.

Guess Who’s Dieting?

I am!  Well, in a fashion, anyway.  I was going to write about how I have not been having those midnights snacks that just absolutely derail a diet, but I am a day too late.  Last night, I finally succumbed to a delicious meal of pork chops and rice.. all after 11pm.  Doesn’t sound much like a weight loss diet, does it?

To be fair, last night was an exception.  I usually stick to eating moderate portions at the right times, it’s just that I was expecting pork chops for dinner and ended up getting.. not pork chops.  I can’t even remember what I had for dinner.

In any case, I’ll just eat a little less today.  No big deal!  I just have to steer clear of meals after hours.  By the way, there is actually a show on the Asian Food Network called After Hours.  I love that show.

Microsoft CEO Steve Balmer admits: VISTA SUCKS!

Well, Microsoft finally came out and said it, their Windows Vista operating system just absolutely sucks.  Of course they didn’t word it like that, but it was pretty obvious what they were saying.  Apparently, the company compromised compatibility for security.  I’m a Mac user so this is all basically beneath me (just kidding GF), but compromise seems too weak a word.  Vista just absolutely sucked on all levels of hardware compatibility.  It was annoying and it was ANNOYING.

I wonder if Vista’s overall terribleness will hurt Windows 7′s chances.  So far, reviews are pretty positive, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it suddenly gets the backlash Vista got.  But hey, what can you expect?  It’s Microsoft, not Apple.

BTW, it was awesome that Microsoft finally owned up to just how bad Vista was!

WANTED: STYLE

My GF has a sense of style most designers would envy.  It’s classy, it’s clean, it looks amazing.  And it’s not limited to clothes.  Whether it is a new pair or shoes, or jeans, or a piece of antique or modern furniture she’s getting, you should take her word for it that it is going to look awesome.

Unfortunately, I do not share the gift.  I have a terrible sense of style, and I manage to get away with it because I’m a guy.  I live on jeans and shirts!  Things might not so be easy when I start furnishing my own house.  I’ve got to figure out what tables and chairs go with the curtains, etc.  I will probably be terrible at it.  No, scratch that.  I know I’ll be terrible at it.

Oh well, that’s still a long ways away.  I can live in my badly decorated home for the time being.  I don’t mind at all.  It’s not going to show up in magazines, but it’s home.

Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize. What?

President Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize.  Wow.  I don’t really know just how to react to this, or how I feel about it.  I mean, Obama is great.  He’s charismatic, he’s idealistic, and the people have rallied behind him.  But the Nobel Peace Prize?  Sure, he raised the American ideal, but has he really done enough for world peace?

The Nobel committee must be banking on potential here, and that just doesn’t seem right.  Obama has been in office for less than a year, and he’s being awarded the Nobel Peace prize?  That means he was nominated 11 days after he assumed office as president!  He couldn’t have affected world peace that much in those first 11 days.

Well, I guess what I know how I feel about it.  I love Barrack Obama, but hey, he still doesn’t deserve that award.  Not yet.
